The Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulations are of significance to all producers, distributors, and retailers in South Africa. If you sell, manufacture or import any of the products below, your business must comply with South Africa’s Environmental and Waste Regulations.

The National Environmental Management Waste Act (NEMWA) No. 59/2008 makes provision for the implementation of EPR programmes in South Africa.

On 5 November 2020, the Department of Forestry and Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE) published Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulations for the Electronic and Electric (EEE), Paper and Packaging and Lighting sectors.
